Ivory and seeds | h 18 + 18 cm | 7,1 + 7,1 in. | 20th century

description

The Akweye or Ankweya or Akweya-Yachi live in Otukpo LGA and are related to the Akpa and neighbours from the Ufia and Utonkon. They claim to have lived near the Wukari just as the Idoma and to have been part of the old Jukun empire.
Some of their statues are richly decorated with multiple figures and Abrus Precotorius seeds that have a slight resemblance with some Yoruba figures like these ivory horse riders.
